Built-in word lists

The built-in lists cover common high-risk wording in Chinese copy; they are not a complete list. There is no official complete list of banned words in China, so the latest platform rules and regulations prevail.

Common Xiaohongshu violations

Notes that get throttled, removed or flagged usually fall into one of these. The checker above covers the first five; check the last one yourself.

  1. 01

    Off-platform traffic and contact details

Leaving a WeChat ID, QQ, group number or phone number, or writing "DM me", sends readers off the platform. Homophones and abbreviations such as 威信 or vx are caught too.

    Typical wording: 微信、加微、vx、绿泡泡、加群、私信我、留电话

  2. 02

    Other platforms and off-platform deals

Mentioning Taobao, Pinduoduo or Douyin, posting QR codes or share codes, or steering readers to private transfers and cashback. Sell through a Xiaohongshu shop or a linked product instead.

    Typical wording: 淘宝、某宝、拼多多、二维码、淘口令、转账、好评返现

  3. 03

    Baiting likes, follows and comments

Trading giveaways or freebies for likes, follows and comments, or asking for follow-for-follow. The platform recommends such notes less.

    Typical wording: 求赞、互关、点赞关注、评论抽奖、关注领取

  4. 04

    Inflated efficacy and medical claims

Claiming that ordinary cosmetics or food treat something, promising results in a set number of days, or naming diseases. A personal review must not read as a guarantee either.

    Typical wording: 治疗、祛痘、消炎、三天见效、永不反弹、减肥

  5. 05

    Advertising Law absolute terms

Absolute terms such as best, number one, top-tier or national-level fall under the Advertising Law in product and recommendation notes as well.

    Typical wording: 最好、最低价、第一、唯一、顶级、国家级

  6. 06

Not caught by the checker: undisclosed partnerships

Paid or gifted posts not reported through the platform's partnership channel, or reposting others' content, are also violations. Check these yourself before posting.

    Typical wording: 未报备的商单、搬运、虚假测评

How to use it

  1. 01

    Paste the note

Paste the Xiaohongshu note you are about to post. The title is optional; hashtags can go at the end of the body.

  2. 02

    Read the flagged words

Three lists are on by default: traffic words and contacts, inflated efficacy claims, and Advertising Law absolute terms. Untick any you don't need.

  3. 03

    Fix, then post

Each hit comes with the reason and a suggested rewrite, such as "tell me in the comments" instead of "DM me". Fix them, then copy the note out.

FAQ

Is the Xiaohongshu checker free? Do I need to sign in?

It is free and needs no sign-up or sign-in. Signed in, you can also check against your persona's own banned words.

Which words are banned on Xiaohongshu?

Four kinds come up most: off-platform traffic and contacts (微信, vx, 私信我), other platforms and off-platform deals (淘宝, QR codes, cashback), inflated efficacy and medical claims (祛痘, results in three days), and Advertising Law absolute terms (最好, 第一, 顶级).

How do I check a note for sensitive words?

Paste the title and body into the boxes above; it checks as you type. Hits are highlighted in the text and listed below with their kind, the reason and a suggested rewrite.

What happens when a note breaks the rules?

At best it is throttled and barely recommended; at worst the note is removed or the account muted or banned. Removing traffic words and inflated claims before posting avoids most of it.

Does it catch homophones and abbreviations of WeChat?

Yes. The built-in list includes common variants such as 威信, 薇信, 绿泡泡, vx and wx; abbreviations only count when they stand alone, so English words and URLs are left alone.

Is my note uploaded?

No. The check runs in your browser; the text you paste is never sent to a server or saved.

If nothing is flagged, is the note safe?

Not necessarily. The built-in lists cover common high-risk wording, not every word, and Xiaohongshu publishes no complete list; undisclosed partnerships and reposts can't be detected either. Follow the latest community guidelines.

How is this different from the other checkers?

This page checks the three lists Xiaohongshu notes trip over most. The banned-word checker runs all seven lists, adding return promises, superstition and the Douyin and Taobao lists, which suits WeChat and e-commerce copy; the Douyin and Taobao checkers focus on live-stream scripts and product titles; the Advertising Law page lets you browse every absolute term with replacements.
